enhancing your art and the connection to your audience

about noise

As I started to put together this page about the Noise Blog, I was trying to come up with something witty but concise, that succintly describes my thoughts and I remembered Bob Macc’s excellent Blog. On his “A bit about this blog” page I think he has the perfect quote for why people like Bob and myself do these things.

I care about music, I care about sound, and I care about the people involved in both. I want people to make music, to have it sound great, and for them not to be frustrated in the process.

It’s really hard to put it any more clearly than that. That said, another quote that I think sets the tone for this blog is from Bruce Lee:

Research your own experience. Absorb what is useful, reject what is useless, add what is essentially your own.

This blog is about sharing my experience of things I find useful, noting things that, for me, were useless, and insights I have gained on my journey.

philosophy

My philosophy borrows heavily from lots of cool people like Bob Macc, Bruce Lee, Dali, Seneca, Gregory Scott, Billy Gibbons and from a plethora of famous and not so famous artists, engineers and others across the music industry that have shared profound insights with me... but that's not really this. Or maybe it is...

Communicate

Communication with others, sharing our stories and souls, that's the way we all elevate the art and become better artists, engineers, and producers. So this Noise Blog, is just that, noise. It might enhance our collective knowledge and it might not. Your mileage may vary.
